Where can I purchase an iPhone?

Last month I bought a Nokia N810. At first, I debated getting an Apple iPod Touch. To be honest, if the local retailer would have had some 16gb versions in stock, I would have probably went ahead and purchased one there. After going over what I wanted out of that type of device, I decided on the N810. For most other people I would suggest the iPod Touch or an iPhone.

There are a lot of people looking for iPhone’s and iPod Touches on the net. Everyone wants a good deal on them. The deals aren’t hard to find, you just have to know where to look guide to getting a loan. For instance, these are about the best one can find (clicking the links will take you to a site full of iPhones of all types):
[phpbay]Apple 3G iPhone, 6, 293, “case dock sportsuit holster clock cable wall transmitter sleeve skin sock nano earphone charge mount griffin LCD battery faceplate speaker charger speakers cradle belkin headphones headset”[/phpbay]

Anyone who wants to purchase an iPhone online, should check out these deals first. Plus, a lot of these phones have already been unlocked. Unlocked iPhones can be used with any carrier.

There are many imitation iPhones as well. The BlackBerry Storm is one of them. Blackberries are much more popular with the business crowd, or at least have been in the past due to the full QWERTY keyboards. They have also been integrated into the business environment much better. A company I used to work for used Blackberries along with their Lotus/Domino servers for mail, calendar, and other databases. This allowed people on the go to access all their appointments and contacts from anywhere. Unfortunately, the Blackberry Storm hasn’t recieved the best reviews, and it doesn’t have the features that business users looked for and received in the past with a Blackberry.

iPhones make great personal media devices, PDA, and (don’t forget) phone. If you’re in the market for one, go grab yours today. Also check out this site for more great deals.

Attention: Free Office Software Download

As a follow-up to an earlier post about someone selling Open Office on eBay entitle “Amazing eBay Sale” I thought I would give some advice on where to get Open Office and how to install/use it, for those who don’t know already.

OpenOffice is free software anyone can download. It isn’t what you would refer to as shareware. It is open source software. There are many awesome open source software solutions out there. OpenOffice.org is the absolute best office suite available for free. There is a word processor (like Microsoft Word) called Writer, a spreadsheet app (like Microsoft Excel) called Calc, a presentation application (like Microsoft Powerpoint) called Impress, a database application (like Microsoft Access) called Base, and a vector image application called Draw.

Some will argue that these applications are not at good as their commercial counterparts. I tend to be of the mindset that OpenOffice has most everything that a normal office worker would need or want. So it does everything they would ever need it to do and it’s around $400 cheaper. The price makes it very attractive.

However, if one is a student, Microsoft practically gives away Office 2007 as long as you have a .edu email address. Really though, $60 is a high enough price for a regular user. It’s great software, but perhaps Microsoft got a bit greedy. Their greedy turned a lot of people to pirating. I prefer using OpenOffice to pirating any day. I won’t be breaking any laws if I download and use a copy of OpenOffice. I can get everything I need to do done with OpenOffice. It gives Microsoft the incentive to make their product better.

Amazing eBay sale

I realize everyone needs money, but I can’t believe what some people are making money from. For instance, I just found this on eBay:

OPEN OFFICE PRO 2007/VISTA/XP FOR MICROSOFT WINDOWS NEW – eBay (item 260364170325 end time Feb-24-09 14:29:46 PST).

Someone sold a “retail licensed” version of Open Office for $52. Two of those a day and you have a decent payday considering that Open Office is completely free. Hell, I may try selling a few copies of it myself.

I’ve seen people sell Linux and Open Office on eBay before, but I’ve never seen one of them go for that much money. That’s pretty expensive for a free piece of software. Of course, there are some that will argue that yes some people don’t have broadband and may actually benefit from these auctions. Well, that may be the case but that isn’t the type of people they are marketing to.

They are fooling people who don’t know any better. They are making them think that they are getting a dang good deal on some software. It’s actually pretty genius.

I’ll be off burning some Open Office disks.

Do we really need more explanations for obesity?

I happened across an article entitled Unusual Explanations for the Obesity Epidemic recently. Reading through it, I found that scientists are devoting way too much time trying to find new explanations to things that are pretty easy to figure out.

I’m overweight. Actually my Wii Fit exclaims “OW” when I get on it and tells me I’m in fact obese. I believe it. I’m around 50 lbs over my ideal weight and I’d love to be at that ideal weight. However, I’m not a very active person. On top of that, the bigger your stomach gets, the more it hurts when you are hungry. I’m also getting older and my metabolism is slowing down.

That’s all the reasons I need for why I’m “obese”, but this article goes into detail how our obesity could be caused by a virus or bacteria…Please…I’m fat because I’m a lazy overeating American. I honestly wish our road system was designed to accomidate bicycles more. I would like to get out and ride a bike more often.

There are a few reasons Americans are fat, and it’s not too complicated to understand. We are on the go probably more than any other people. However, our on-the-go lifestyle made us buy things to make our lives easier. We all have big cars of course, at least most of us that are not inside a big city. We also don’t spend much time planning our meals or enjoying them for that matter. On our daily rush, it’s pretty essential for us to have a fast food restaurant.

So even though we are arguably the busiest people on the planet, we don’t get a lot of exercise and we don’t eat right. It’s that simple. There’s no need to spend millions researching other reasons we are fat, what we should be researching is how much does a total gym cost to start working out. We aren’t necessarily lazy as the rest of the world views us. It’s actually the opposite. We are zooming around everywhere, putting in hours upon hours at work, coming home dead tired, and spending the rest of the night vegging out in front of the TV or on the internet looking at porn/news/youtube/whatever.

We are fat because we are overworked. I know this sounds crazy, but there is a reason America is as great as it is. Americans are hard workers. We don’t take 2 hours lunches every day. We don’t have 7 course meals. We don’t relax enough. How’s that for an unusual explanation for the obesity epodemic?

Google Gears for Linux 64 bit Redux

Earlier I posted that there was no Google Gears for Linux x64. Well I found a solution here. I was able to install it in a few minutes and I’m not in WordPress “turbo” mode. There are a few applications that take advantage of Google Gears. The key feature of Google Gears is that it allows web applications to run offline. I believe that it’s used by WordPress to cache most of the application locally. This allows it to run much faster. Hopefully this helps some of you find Gears for x64 Linux. I should have looked a little more before I posted that last entry about it being non-existent.

YouTube – Opening A Beer With A Helicopter

YouTube – Opening A Beer With A Helicopter.

This is pretty amazing. I must be on a beer kick lately. My last two posts have been beer related. Anyone know what kind of helicopter that is. It appears to be quite small. I think there are ultralight helicopters like this. I think I’ll go look them up.

Xlack Download Someone help

For years I’ve used the Xlack perl script plugin for xchat in Linux. Recently a friend of mine asked me if I had the zip laying around anywhere. I thought I had it but to my disappointment I don’t have the installer. I still have the script installed on one of my computers but like I said, I don’t have the installer. This means that I only have the English version of the script, I think. I’m going to look through my archives/backups but if anyone else has this, leave a comment please.

Note: This has been resolved. See this post!

Star Trek | Official Movie Site | In Theaters May 2009 | Star Trek Movie

Star Trek | Official Movie Site | In Theaters May 2009 | Star Trek Movie.

I wouldn’t say I’m a huge Star Trek fan, but I do have a special place in my heart for the original series. The trailer for the new movie looks pretty good though. I wouldn’t mind seeing a complete remake of TOS. The franchise itself may have many diehard(somewhat strange) fans, but it somehow just never gets old to me. Even though there are a lot of cliche’s, there is always a fresh direction to go with it. This is a good example. I can’t wait to see the full feature.

Google Gears not supported on x64 Linux

I was about to create a post in my blog and thought, “I think I’ll switch to turbo mode.” Of course, in order for turbo mode to work in a wordpress blog you must have Google Gears installed. Unfortunately, there isn’t a version of Gears for x64 Linux. I love linux, and I love having a computer with 8gb of RAM. I also love being able to use all 8gb of RAM so a 64 bit OS (or at least a PAE enabled OS) is required. Google, as much stuff as you have running on Linux, why can’t you make an x64 version of Gears for me?

I waited on Google Earth for over two years. It finally came. Why do the Linux nerds have to wait till last for all of Google’s cool stuff. Since most of the stuff is beta for a long time anyway, why not just let the Linux nerds be the beta testers. I think it’s at least a courteous gesture.
